Reda Rafei

Reda Rafei is a Ph.D. Student at Texas Tech University majoring in Middle Eastern Studies with a focus on the Ottoman history. Reda is researching the role that women played in the society of the Ottoman Empire and its provinces in the seventeenth and eighteenth century. Reda is fluent in three languages including English, French, and Arabic. She took many classes in French literature and has a special passion for the poetry of Victor Hugo. She is planning on learning Ottoman and Persian. Before coming to Lubbock, Reda was living in Bloomington Indiana where she attended Indiana University Bloomington and received a Master of Library Sciences. Reda visited many countries and lived in the United Arab Emirates for three years where she was teaching social studies at the middle school. Upon finishing her degree, Reda wish to teach at an academic institution. Her goal is to transfer the love that she have for history to her students and make them appreciate the past for all its implication on the future.
