Reeta Baidyaroy

In 2010, Reeta Baidyaroy founded Ritam – The Academy of Indian Dance in Princeton, New Jersey, and she serves as its owner, artistic director, and teacher. She focuses on training students in Bharata Natyam, the oldest and most traditional style of Indian classical dance. Reeta Baidyaroy's secondary goal is to instill a sense of cultural pride among her students while also fostering beneficial cross-cultural attitudes in the tri-state area.

In addition to operating an Indian dance studio, Reeta Baidyaroy has created several of her own productions. Many of her dance dramas, such as Tasher Desh, Sagarika, Chandalika, A Presentation of Dance Through the Ages, and Rhythms of India, use traditional choreography. Reeta Baidyaroy also developed the notable television production, Tagore: A Praise Without End, which saw many positive reviews. Her most recent project is a classical ballet based off of "Kumarashambav," the epic poem by Kalidasa.

In order to effectively teach and also manage her own dance studio, Reeta Baidyaroy underwent an extensive education in India and the United States. She trained in contemporary dance styles and graduated from Viswa-Bharati, which was founded by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Her training continued under Dr. Gayetri Chatterji of the Rabindra Bharati University located in Kolkata, India. Reeta Baidyaroy has also received education in classical styles, including Bharata Natyam, Odissi, and Manipuri. In addition to an active career in teaching and performing Indian dance dramas, Reeta Baidyaroy also holds a law degree and a Master's of Fine Arts and in English.
