"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." - Chinese Proverb
Ever since I was a child, it has been taught to me that if you want something you work hard to achieve it. I started working at a local pizza shop when I was 16 years old, 7 years later I am still a valued employee. By working my way through college it has taught me responsibility, and helped to remind me of the things I want in life.
I started my college career directly following High School, at Wake Technical Community College acquiring an associate’s degree. My dream is to become a social worker, so I applied and was accepted to NCCU. Enrolling for the fall term of 2013, was a scary process, new school, new people, it was a lot to handle. The campus was intimidating at first being that it is a university and I was unsure of what to expect. It did not take long to make friends; everyone at the school was warm and inviting. This helped make the process a little easier, smoothing out the transition a bit. After one year as an official NCCU student I am proud to say I am a current member of the Tau Sigma National Honors Society! My main goal in life is to change a person’s life for the better, it does not matter how many people I am able to help as long as I can make a difference somewhere. Following my Bachelor’s degree I would like to go on the graduate school and receive a Master’s degree in social work. With a Master’s I will then be eligible to take my state licensure test, once that has been accomplished I would work as an apprentice for 2000 hours, until I am finally eligible to become a licensed clinical social worker. It seems as if I may have bit off more than I can chew, but if you want something bad enough you can make it happen. Perseverance is a quality I am proud to say I have.
If at first you don’t succeed try, try again.

Yes working is important but another dream of mine is to travel and get the most out of life that I possibly can. I love to spend time with my dog, watching movies, listening to music, and sadly I am a major car buff. Family is also a major component, I am constantly leaning on my family for support and without them I would not be the person I am today.

Stephanie Hopes that the future holds great things for her as she moves forward to accomplish her goals!
