Refilwe Baloyi

Student teacher and House Rep in Johannesburg

I am Refilwe Chantel Baloyi, a third-year student teacher specializing in Mathematics and Life Sciences at the University of Johannesburg. I currently reside at Focus 1 Student Accommodation, where I proudly serve as a Floor Representative and active member of the House Committee.
As an introverted person, I find strength in quiet reflection, careful listening, and thoughtful communication. These qualities have shaped how I lead and support others in my residence community. My role at Focus 1 has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally: planning meaningful events, helping fellow students, and contributing to a positive and supportive living environment.

I am deeply passionate about education, technology, and innovation. I enjoy exploring how digital tools can make learning more inclusive, engaging, and accessible for all learners, especially those who learn in different ways. In line with this passion, I recently completed a short online course at the University of Johannesburg on Artificial Intelligence in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), which deepened my understanding of how emerging technologies can transform education.I believe that thoughtful, quiet leadership can bring powerful change in both classrooms and communities.
