The word Reiki means Universal Life energy. It is defined as being the power that lives and acts in all created matter.

The word has 2 parts:

1.REI: which is the universal, boundless aspect of energy. It is the higher intelligence that guides the creation and functioning of the universe. We can call it God, Universal Mind, Higher Consciousness, Nature or supernatural knowledge or spiritual consciousness.

2.KI: means the same as Chi in Chinese and Prana in Sanskrit. It is also called Life force, orgone, bioplasma. This is the non-physical energy that animates everything alive.
