I am currently the Chief Technology Officer and Director Learning Support Services for the Oxnard Union High School District. Students are my passion and I am so lucky to have the opportunities I have on a daily basis. Previous to Oxnard, I was the Dean at a Ventura County elementary school. In this role, I supported teachers through facilitating Professional Development and assisting in the implementation of Instructional Technology into the classroom setting. Google Apps for Education, helping to facilitate dynamic teacher websites, and navigating different types of Ed Tech tools were just a few of the great things I assisted teachers with regularly. I also worked closely with the principal in the day to day of running a school site.

This is my 27th year in education and I began my career in Simi Valley USD, where I spent 17 amazing years where I started as an elementary school teacher. After 8 years in the classroom, I moved to the DO as a Tech TOSA, supporting teachers organizing and leading PD for the next 3 years. In 2009, I was named the first Instructional Technology Coordinator for SVUSD, managing a district wide 1:1 iPad/Chromebook pilot, pioneering the introduction and use of a Digital Citizenship curriculum, facilitating and managing that implementation by modeling lessons, and supporting principals/teachers in the delivery of that curriculum. I worked closely with VCOE and with iKeepSafe which helped our district greatly. iKeepSafe supported our work and published a whitepaper on our efforts.

In addition, I managed SVUSDs website & social media accounts. In doing so, realized there was a need for parents to understand how kids are using social media in their day to day. During the 14-15 school year, I facilitated parent education nights for the community focusing on the benefits and pitfalls of social media, what our roles as parents and educators are, & how to post safely and responsibly.

My passion is how to move students from Digital Citizens to Digital Leaders and Digital Literacy is a passion. I try to stay ahead of AI as much as I can on the ever changing legislation surrounding these topics. As a parent myself, my goal is to continue to empower students, parents & educators alike in navigating these difficult waters to better equip our kids for the future of technology.
