nostalgia. it's delicate, but potent. in Greek, "nostalgia" literally means "the pain from an old wound." it's a twinge in your heart far more powerful than memory alone. didn't Dante or Voltaire teach us that there is no greater sorrow, than to recall a happy time during a miserable moment? the point? as you read this, you are more than likely cataloguing or recalling your memories - likely scattered with both happiness or sorrow. me? i'm interpreting the exact composition of happiness or sorrow. the meaning. the explanation, value, worth. your story is comprised of feelings & emotions - my memoir ignores the existence of either. my nostalgia is compromised of facts, intelligence, validation, truth. i have learned, hugs don't offer validation & affection doesn't offer a solution. "It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are." -e.e. cummings
