Remo Topper

What kid doesn't have a fascination with trains? Every NYC kid loves the subways, right? The sounds of trains coming into stations. The screeching wheels on steel tracks. Now comes a most fascinating stop. All city kids know: Coney Island. That sprawling expanse tangled with signal lights, rails, and of all things...THE TRAIN BARNS! The train barns: Those magical brick houses where our gleaming metal ladies go for cosmetic work, repair and relaxation. Ever wonder what it would be like to hang out there? The heavy smells of machine oil? The clak-clak, bang-bang of work being done. What if all work was gone, and now you lived there? Pretty neat, huh? Of course, our accommodations in the train barn would be a lot more accommodating. All the modern ammenities included, sans grit and toil of machine work's finest. (We love you guys, but we can't have you milling metal while we're preparing eggs benedict. Sorry!) So, this is my story. It's about a train barn, similar to the ones New Yorkers see everyday at Coney Island. You might see a different train barn. In another part of the world, possibly more tall. Only no trains are there. Hello? A train barn with no trains? Okay. Topper's barn is converted. Inside it's a fun world where children play (like M.D.'s Playplace) writers write, and the old folks sit around and drink coffee all of the time. There's some important work going on here. We are crafting stuff. We are wordsmithing. We're hammering out the books that kids love. Creating strange, new poetic worlds on paper and screen. This is my story. It's about a train barn. There's a nifty little guy running it. Soon, you'll meet him! Welcome to remostrainbarn.
