Surrounding the park is a number of modern 2nd Empire townhouses and many people say that square may be the closest thing to an European area square.

As I was sitting and only consuming this attractive atmosphere, a man sat down close to me and we started chatting. He stated that he's actually from Antigua and grew up in Oakville, Ontario, just outside Toronto. H-e visited university in Virginia, did his graduate diploma at McGill in Montreal and finally a PhD at Cornell University. He explained that sometimes he has to travel on business-to Montreal and today he runs a biotech company positioned in Boston.

He had an opportunity to get to know the city up-close and says he loves Montreal, particularly due to its European style and its bohemian character, since he lived in Montreal while getting his graduate degree. He actually lived around the corner from Square St. Louis, and he's always driven back for this neighbourhood when he comes back to Montreal.

Interested in his experiences learning in various parts in the United States Of America, I asked him what his knowledge was like, particularly being a visible minority.
