Renée Levesque
Volunteer and Teacher Candidate in Sudbury, ON, Canada
I was born and raised in Kapuskasing, a small northern Ontario town. Being from a small town, there were not many leisure options. As a result, I spent most of my time outdoors learning about nature or reading a lot of books. I was always very talkative and my parents and sister would regularly tell me to get a job that involved public speaking. As soon as I would learn new information I would seek to tell someone. In high school I started taking all the science classes I could because I had originally decided to become a veterinarian.
My passion for knowledge and nature continued to grow and so I decided to take a BSc in Zoology at Laurentian University. Since I had such a strong love for animals I started the Animal Science club at Laurentian. Through this club we do fundraisers for local shelters and we frequently volunteer at these shelters. Learning about animals and ecology was great for me but I found myself having all this knowledge and not having anywhere to utilize it. So I decided to join the concurrent education program in my third year of my bachelor.
After my first placement I fell in love to share my knowledge. My plan for the future is to teach at the high school level. I would love help students see that Biology can be a very interesting subject. In the near future I would love to take senior abq's in Biology as well as in English.
