“I want to be a jazz trombonist.” “I want to be an orchestral trombone player” these are the most usual statements that I hear from all the trombone players I meet. I became interested with the trombone because of its versatility in all genres. It all started when my family encouraged me to follow my grandfathers footsteps as a trombone player. But before i went into my main instrument, I was a percussionist before when I was in my highschool year. I have also learned how to play bass guitar which my father taught me. Days and years of playing later, I have performed and chosen as a member in many variety of groups and orchestras here in the Philippines. I have performed with the most premier orchestra of our country the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO). And also the other main orchestras such as Manila Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO), Filipino-Korean Orchestra (FILKOR), Orchestra of the Filipino Youth (OFY), Filipino-American Symphony Orchestra (FASO). Not just in the field of symphonic orchestra's but I have also performed in a Big Band which is the number one jazz band here in our country, the “AMP Big Band”. I am also a member of city pop band “ALYSON”. There are a lot of groups to mention on my career as trombonist. I am also a student at the University of Santo Tomas where I am taking my bachelor's degree in performance, major in trombone.
I have always loved performing and helping other aspiring musicians improve and be part of their growth as a performer. This led me into this platform where I offer myself to teach and help my future students to be a better performer.
As John Lennon said. “Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted”. And if you believe in the music within you, I would love to help you along on your journey as a musician.
