Civil engineer, researcher and teacher of geomatics with activity in engineering related to the geographic information, management and share of documentation and survey of monuments using geographic information systems and advanced technologies.
Project management of complex information systems in the field of the environment, the territory and the culture heritage in the conservation and restoration of monuments and sites, diagnosis of static structural phenomena and risk analysis evaluation and mapping.

Starting from 80s with the development of methods and standards for the architectural numerical photogrammetry with applications as the Colosseum Survey and the main archaeological area in the center of Rome. Extensive applications on the regional and national level in campaigns of photogrammetric documentation as the action for the “Protection of Monuments from Seismic Risk” started by prof. Urbani, director of ICR (Istituto Centrale del Restauro), in the 1983.

Project leader in ’92 of the first Eureka Italian project in the cultural heritage field (Eurocare Eureka EU 598 Refran), aimed to quick cataloguing of monuments and archaeological sites. Active in first EU projects for Culture Heritage as the Memorandum of Understanding for the Multimedia Access to European Cultural Heritage, or the membership to the "Commissione Normal - Istituto Centrale del Restauro / CNR / UNI" and the technical direction of the “Cultural Heritage Risk Map” initiative of the Italian Ministry of Culture concluded in 2006.

Main academic activity as adjunct professor in Topography and Geomatics, at the University of Roma Tre till 2011 and before since 1984 at the Universities of Rome La Sapienza and of L'Aquila. Lecturer in “heritage at risk inventories” courses at ICCROM.

Currently Chief Editor of GEOmedia, the Italian magazine on geomatics, and expert for the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Cooperation to Development of Cultural Heritage in the Middle East area and Latin Americas region. Recently started a new editorial initiative, Archeomatica, for the contribution to dissemination of scientific results on Cultural Heritage Technologies.
