Natália Estêvão

Almancil || Algarve || Portugal

I’ve started my first pieces in 2011 and being autodidact, I had to use the “try-fail-improve” technic, demanding more of myself in every new work. Confessing a passion for the transformation of the common to exquisite, Papier Mache art media was my perfect fit.Having the advantage of being ecologically friendly by recycling some materials, I developed my own pulp technic, to upgrade this media to a look-a-like clay or pottery appearance, still being able to produce lifetime artwork that is original, sturdy and affordable.the structures are built with bottles, cardboard, wire, anything I can find in my garage scavenges, then I start to shape with paperclay; once dried I hand paint and complete with several coats of varnished for indoor protection.Never know what can come next…my hands, my heart, my mood will lead me for a completely new work that will blow me away, hopefully you too! Unquestionably each and every sculpture is unique, numbered and signed.
