Retroflective

Retroflective was birthed in Madison, Wisconsin. Madison is full of great dog parks, well-maintained bike paths, and hiking trails--but sometimes we find ourselves walking our dogs in a neighborhood with no sidewalks or biking on a low-lit street, wishing we were a little more visible to the passing cars. We've experienced the near-misses and heard about the direct hits with vehicles at night. For years, we've been looking for alternatives to the ill-fitting, one-size-fits-all reflective safety vest or the tiny reflective ankle bands that we always seem to lose in the bottom of the bike bag. We couldn't find one, so we came up with our own: clothing with interesting designs, made with the ANSI-certified, highly-reflective material used by police and construction workers. We make shirts, hoodies and jackets you can wear on your early-morning commute to work or your late-night run to the convenience store.

We use American Apparel clothing, with a few one-of-a-kind thrift-store items thrown in. We chose AA because we think the quality is good and the selection is wide, with lots of colors and an organic fabric option. If AA sells it (and it's cotton, poly or a blend of the two), we can get it for you. We also do custom designs on used and vintage clothes.

We make all our designs, some of which are our own ideas, some of which stem from our friends' suggestions. We just taught ourselves how to use the Adobe suite for this adventure, so we are far from expert, but we are willing to try new things. If you want us to print a portrait of your pet or your volleyball team's logo, we can do that for a little bit extra, depending on how much designing we have to do. Contact us!
