Retu Jalhan
From as early as her high school years Retu has been regarded as a leader amongst her peers. Retu has always been an ambassador for multiculturalism, and at the age of 16 she established the AYJ Multicultural Club. Retu fast tracked through high school, and in 1998 she attended York University to pursue her degree in Anthropology and Communications.
In 2000, Retu won the coveted title of Miss India-Canada. Regarded as the "Millennium Queen", she went on to lead organizations in the Indo-Canadian community. She Chaired the Kesri Youth Awards, where the achievements of South Asian Youth were celebrated. She also was a board member of ASAAP (Alliance for South Asian AIDS Prevention), where she helped develop programs to educate the South Asian diaspora about AIDS and HIV.
Along side her philanthropic pursuits, Retu worked diligently on her career in Banking and Insurance. Retu began her career in Insurance on the Property and Casualty side of the business. She progressed from the Manager of Marketing at Desjardin to Account Manager for the Cooperators Insurance Co., where she managed a portfolio of group insurance clients valued at $60mm in premiums.
After 8 years in the insurance sector, Retu decided to pursue her MBA and attended Rollins College in Orlando Florida. During her academic career she received the SunTrust Leader of Merit Award and won the first place prize in the Rollins Business Venture Plan Competition.
Post-graduation Retu co-founded an investment firm, The Phoenix Group. Here she lead the financial analysis and valuation of acquisition opportunities. She was also involved in the preparation of legal documents and marketing collateral. In addition to the buy side activities she was charged with the development of an offshore fund for investments in TLC's. Retu is now with The RMP Group, a single family office based in Orlando Florida.
Retu is an accomplished business professional with specialization in the financial services industry. Her account management, business development and marketing skills are derived from over twelve years of experience in the investment and insurance industry.
Retu is the founder of the Viveka Foundation a non-profit aimed at supporting the fight against rape and human trafficking. She is the ED of the "We Are Your Sisters" Campaign which hosts a Yogathon Fundraiser in collaboration with the Miss India Canada Organization.
