Reuben Criddle
Failure Analysis Technician, Handyman, and Critical Thinker in Pocatello, ID
I have always had a fascination with how things work from a young age. I was one of those little boys that took things apart to see the mechanical workings inside. Almost every time that I put those things back together they still worked and sometimes worked better than before. I have always loved fixing things which has come in handy more than once. This coincides with my love of puzzling things out until I have a lightbulb or eureka moment.
I wasn’t always cooped up inside tinkering though. I love going outside and throwing a baseball around even though I don’t get to do it as often as I would like. Living in Downey, Idaho I had easy access to the wilderness for camping, hiking, fishing, and enjoying nature. I had many opportunities to learn, observe and think outside the box since my dad was a farmer, a gardener, and a home handyman. I really enjoy the outdoors and have always loved traveling.
My interests and talents have helped me tackle the challenges of being a responsible adult. I have replaced minor parts in various vehicles that we have owned, I have assembled, maintained, and repaired furniture for my family’s use and longevity, and I built our chicken coop and run from scratch.
The past decade has been full of changes and growth for me. Among caring for children, animals, my home and growing in my career I have been growing stronger with my mental health. I discovered not long ago that I have ADHD which has come with some challenges, but has helped me understand my weaknesses as well as maximize my efficiency.
I have a passion for understanding the ‘Big Picture.’ I use this in all of my projects and hobbies. I have an affinity for fixing things, finding lost things, and organization. I can figure out how all of the relevant items interact in order to find clues and figure things out. Because of this playing video games, board games, and puzzles have been some enjoyable pastimes for me. Even though I don’t have as much time to play as many video or board games anymore because of growing responsibilities, I enjoy the stories, secrets, and lore from many games and fictional universes.
I have some talents in the artistic realm as well. I have an affinity for music and even switched to Robotics from Music Education. I mostly sing and dabble in piano and guitar. I have also dabbled in theater and art.
