Reza Satchu is a serial entrepreneur and investor from Toronto, Canada. He is the Managing Partner and Founder of Alignvest Management Corporation, a leading private investment firm; he also serves as a director at Sagicor Financial Company Ltd. and a director at Trilogy International Partners.

A graduate of Harvard Business School, Reza received his Masters of Business Administration in 1996. He began his career at Merrill Lynch in 1991 as a Financial Analyst in New York where he was responsible for structuring and executing high yield debt offerings. In 1996, he accepted a role where he became a General Partner and Managing Director at Fenway Partners, a $1.5 billion private equity firm.

During the course of his career, Reza, has co-founded, built and managed several operating businesses from inception including: KGS-Alpha Capital Markets, a fixed-income broker dealer with over $5 billion of assets that was sold to Bank of Montreal; StorageNow, which became Canada’s second largest self-storage company prior to being sold to InStorage REIT; and SupplierMarket, a supply chain software company with investors that included KKR and Sequoia Capital, which was sold to Ariba.

Reza Satchu is also the Founding Chairman of Next Canada, whose mission is to increase Canadian prosperity and accelerate the trajectory of Canada’s most promising entrepreneurs. As founder, Reza helped design various aspects of the program, including admission criteria, curriculum and incubation plan; he also developed a 9 month program that provided free education, mentorship and start-up funding to each entrepreneur.

From 2003 to 2010, Reza created, taught and evaluated a fully accredited course, Economics of Entrepreneurship at the University of Toronto, which focused on the challenging economic issues associated with recognizing, growing and valuing new ventures. The class was the overall top-rated course by students in the entire Faculty of Arts and Science for each of the years that Reza taught the class.

In the Fall semester of 2020, Reza will begin serving as a Senior Lecturer at Harvard Business School, where he will be teaching Launching Technology Ventures and The Entrepreneurial Manager.

Reza has received Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 Award, McGill University Annual Leadership Award and is a member of the Canadian Advisory Board to the Harvard Business School.
