Raeford Hall
Teaching Assistant, Volunteer, and Student in Raleigh, North Carolina
"Never give up!" is a saying I hold dear. I withdrew from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the Fall of 1997, thinking I would never return to finish my degree in Elementary Education. Now, I am a senior at North Carolina Central University pursuing my dream of becoming an educator. I am employed as a Teaching Assistant in Wake County and I will be Student Teaching this Spring 2018.
My passion is teaching because of the impact teachers have on the world. Helping all my students to discover their power and to connect with their human potential to relate to others with compassion and kindness are my most important goals. My own journey towards this feeling of equanimity began with me seeing the need to change myself. Over the course of many years, I gravitated towards mindfulness and meditation. Understanding I could change myself inspired me to help my students engage in this same process of self-reflection. My hope is that my students will learn early what I learned late. Take care of your body, mind, and spirit. Be kind to yourself and others. Hopefully, this will benefit my students and society. I plan on teaching in Wake or Durham and I am considering pursuing a masters in counseling.
In my free time I enjoy reading, traveling, adult coloring books, and taking care of my pets.
