This Road That I Now Travel
By Robert A. Hastings
I'm walking on an unfamiliar road,
I feel the red dog warmth beneath my feet as I go,
I see things familiar and others long forgot,
I see faces that I remember and places I have seen,
I see my successes and some unfulfilled dreams,
I smell the fragrance of flowers the sun's warmth against my face,
Now a gentle shower with a rainbow frames this place;
This road that I now travel will lead me to my home,
I now see those I love beckoning me along,
So when you remember me and the road that I've been on,
The road that I have traveled is the road that will bring me home,
So smile when you remember the red dog road we're on,
This road was the beginning to that long traveled road home.
