◈ UN Empower Women Global Champion
Ria San Gabriel is a connector and an ecosystem builder with a background in events, psychology, gender and development. She took on various roles and thrived in unrelated industries – from multinational corporations like IBM to humanitarian organizations such as Médecins Sans Frontières HK.
Passionate in making impactful collaborations for several women’s initiatives, Ria became one of UN Women’s Global Champion for Women’s Economic Empowerment in 2015.
Ria also became one of the judges at the prestigious MIT Inclusive Innovation Challenge 2019. The MIT IIC awards $1M+ globally to the heroes of inclusive innovation − organizations that are using technology to reinvent the future of work and create a more equitable economy.
At present, she is the Head of Community of Connected Women, a social impact tech startup aimed at improving women’s lives by driving tech adoption, entrepreneurship and remote work.
She enjoys learning about new things, immersing in different cultures, outsmarting the patriarchy and watching videos of cats in their liquid state and dogs getting bamboozled! She's inching her way to her dream of living off the grid at a sustainable and eco-friendly tiny house, close to nature where she feels at home the most.
