Ricardo Alvarado / Multi- Award Winning Producer, Director & Performing Artist
From the serene island of Puerto Rico to the dangerous streets of Williamsburg, Brooklyn; singing in the church choir, modeling (Runway, Print & T.V.), to wowing the hippest of the downtown crowds, performing artist RICARDO ALVARADO has always been a man with a mission.
RICARDO immigrated to the U.S. from Puerto Rico in 1966 with his mother & four brothers. He immediately got hooked on Motown, and with his high voice, began imitating the likes of the Stylistics, Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross and other Motown Artists, all the while planning his career in entertainment.
It all started with a project entitled, “The Light”. “I wrote the collection of songs quickly, it was just there,“ he recalls. “I actually started writing on my own because I couldn’t find writers with whom to work.” He soon found he had a talent for melodies. “But I knew I had to find a producer.” As fate would have it, he soon began collaborating with Michael LaGennusa and something magical happened between the pair. Together they produced a series of recordings. First came a four song project appropriately named “The Light”; then another four tune project “Bonded Together“, followed by “Reach My Level Of Love“ a twelve song collection, which included an early mix of the crowd-pleasing single “Lies.” Shortly after, Ricardo recorded a pop dance song, “Never Gonna Let You Down“, which ALVARADO toured locally in the NYC club circuit.
In 2003, Ricardo celebrated a decade in music releasing his Compilation CD entitled, “Unveiled” which now is available for digital downloads on various websites, including cdbaby.com/ricardo and jango.com/ricardo+alvarado. In addition, several videos were produced of some of Alvarado’s tracks and images including, “I Want Somebody New” by Ann Greyson, “5-0”, “Reach My Level Of Love” & live performance videos produced & edited by Roberto Cintron (Snapshot17).
Over the past several years and in support of his many releases, RICARDO has toured Canada, and the Caribbean, in addition to his many performances in New York City at such prestigious venues as Jacob Javits Center, Webster Hall, Club U.S.A., Le Bar Bat and The Limelight. Through performances, he has also supported a number of worthwhile causes including Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (Central Park Bandshell), the LLEGO National Conference Cultural Event ‘98 in Puerto Rico, and Pa’Fuera Pa’l
