Ricardo Porto

I started my career as a graphic designer in 1985, and I've been working with interactive design since 1989. It's a lot of time for an industry that's so young. In fact, I was one of the pioneers of hypertext and multimedia, back there, in Portugal.

Concurrently, I had the opportunity to coordinate and teach graphic design for the European Social Fund, preparing youngsters between 16 and 24 years old to enter the workforce.

In 1990, I went back to Rio de Janeiro, where I started as art director at PrintZ, creating magazines for some of the most important bank and gas & oil corporations.

Three years later, I began designing EIS applications for the Rio de Janeiro municipality and for Vale Corporation. The widespread adoption of Windows, at that time, allowed me to engage in several interactive design projects for corporate systems.

The internet in Brazil got momentum in 1995, when the firsts ISPs started to provide access to the general public. Since then, I've been dedicating myself almost exclusively to the development of online projects for expressive government and private institutions and corporations such as IBGE, The Brazilian Academy of Sciences, IPEA, Time-Life, Nyse Euronext, Odebrecht, IDG, among others.

Since 1997 I run my own company, Calepino.
