Ricardo Barros Lourenço, a Ph.D. Candidate in Geography at McMaster University's School of Earth, Environment & Society, specializes in the cross-section of Geosciences and Computer Science. With his research focused on spatial analysis of remotely sensed data underpinned by advanced machine learning techniques, Ricardo aims to provide significant contributions to Climate Science and Computational Science.
Currently, he holds the position of Communications Editor at Environmental Data Science, a scholarly publication by Cambridge University Press, enhancing the intersection of environmental studies and computational research. His ongoing studies at Professor Alemu Gonsamo’s Remote Sensing Lab reinforce his expertise in harnessing technology for earth science research.
In the past decade, Ricardo has held instrumental roles at Banco do Brasil, steering various Research, Development, and Innovation initiatives for the Agribusiness sector. His academic journey extends across international universities, including the University of Chicago, DePaul University, Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar), Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP), and Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP).
As an Associate Member of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society, he's recognized for his scientific endeavors.
