Entrepreneur and Swiss-Italian business executive Ricardo Braglia heads Helsinn Group, filling the roles of Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director, and member of the board of directors for the family-owned pharmaceutical and chemical enterprise. Ricardo Braglia's success as a Swiss entrepreneur earned him the 2011 Award for Entrepreneurs of Italian Switzerland from the Swiss Venture Club in Ticino. Mr. Braglia received the award on behalf of Helsinn Healthcare SA, where he serves as Managing Director overseeing the company's licensing and commercial operations. In 2012, he was recognized as Swiss Entrepreneur of the Year in the category of High Tech, Industry and Life Sciences by Ernst & Young.
In addition to his leadership of the Helsinn Group, Ricardo Braglia chairs the board of Helsinn Therapeutics U.S., Ltd. The company focuses on research and development project in the Cancer Supportive Care and in future direct sales within the United States. Since 2007, he has managed Helsinn Advanced Synthesis and in 2012, he joined the board of directors of HealthElements.com, a comprehensive web and mobile care delivery system focusing on health, wellness, and lifestyle.
Maintaining many interests outside of his entrepreneurial career, Ricardo Braglia enjoys scuba diving and winter skiing. An aficionado of modern art, he holds active membership in a conservation movement to preserve and restore historical elements of the core of Carabbia parish church, the village where he lives. The founding President of New Flower in Africa, his charitable interests lie mainly with educational projects serving primarely Ethiopia and other African countires, but he also functions as a board member on the Community Relations and Campus Development committees of Tasis, an American school in Switzerland. Ricardo Braglia holds membership in the Chamber of Commerce of the Canton Ticino and operates as Vice President of Lugano Tigers Basketball, a Swiss professional basketball club that competes in the Swiss League and has won the last three Swiss Championships.
