Ricardo Mendes
I´m a journalist graduated from the Pontificial Catholic University of Campinas (SP), with 23 years of professional activity. Master in Social Science/Sociology of the professions of the Federal University of São Carlos, São Paulo. I have 13 years teaching experience in graduate communication/journalism courses, in public and private universities. I teach telejournalism, print journalism, online journalism, investigative journalism, history of journalism and business management in communication, like a professor in Salvador / Bahia – third largest metropolitan region in Brazil. Part of my job involves doing reasearch. In my career, I have worked for all of the major media companies in Brazil, like Folha de Sao Paulo, Publisher April, Globo Televison , through the Bahia Network Television and the EPTV. I was chief editor of the National News Department in Bahia Network . Winner of prizes local, regional, national and international (UN) of journalism, including the Award Tim Lopes of Investigative Journalism in 2003 and 2006. I am the majority stockholder of Farol (Lighthouse) Productions and Communication, a company specializing in consulting projects about latest techology and the transformations generated in the convergence process. Since February 2011 I am editor in chief of the A TARDE Group, a media company in Brazil. I am also a musician and photographer (http://www.flickr.com/photos/27471321@N03/). Currently, work on my book which is titled "Why do not chickens fly?" It's about traditional media companies trying to make the transition to new media.
