Ricardo Januário Ribeiro Ferreira was born in Mirandela (Portugal) in 1984.
He started to play the cello when he was 12 years old in Esproarte (Mirandela) in the class of Richard Arnold Allum. He finish that school in 2002 with honors. During this past years Ricardo has played in all portuguese students orchestras. He has study with Madalena de Sá e Costa in private during six years. In the year 2002 Ricardo went to Study in the Conservatorium of Muziek in Utrecht (Netherlands), in the cello class of Eliaz Arizcuren and Ran Varon, He graduated with Honers in 2007.
He had Master classes with great cellists like: Paulo Gaio Lima, Gavriel Lipkind, Dimitri Fertshman, Dimitri Perlin, Boris Pergamenschikow, Raphael Wolfish among other cellists.
As a solist he has played solo with some orchestras like: Intermezzo ensemble, Benelux Camarata, HKU String Orchestra, Metropole Erasmus Orchestra and Esproarte.
He played in chamber music with Benelux Trio, Lusocello ensemble, Trio Esproarte.
from 2008 to 2013 he was teaching at Esproarte, Conservatório de Música de Bragança, academia de musica de Mirandela, Condoctor of orquestra geração and the teacher of cello section of Aproarte.
Ricardo is playing solo in portugal, solo recitals and with his piano player Dan Treur.
Now he is a full time cello player at Orquestra do Norte (Portugal).
This year he was consider one of the best portuguese cellist of his generation.

Ricardo Januário Ribeiro Ferreira nasceu em Mirandela, em 1984.

Iniciou os seus estudos musicais aos 12 anos na Escola Profissional de Arte de Mirandela (Esproarte), na classe do professor Arnold Richard Allum.

Estudou entre 2002 e 2007 na classe do Professor Eliaz Arizcuren e Ran Varon, na Hogeschool Voor de Kunsten (Universitait Van Musiek), em Utrecht (Holanda), onde concluiu a licenciatura em Music Teaching and Performance com distinção.

Frequentou Masterclasses com violoncelistas de renome internacional, tais como: Paulo Gaio Lima, Miguel Rocha, Pieter Wispelwey, Anner Bylsma, Patrick Demenga, Márcio Carneiro, Dimitri Perlin, Dimitri Fertshman, Timora Rosler, Raphael Wolfish, Jeroen den Herder, Gavriel Lipkind, Asier Polo, Vivian Makie entre outros.

Tocou em várias formações como: Benelux Trio, Modern Quartet, HKU string quartet, Camerata Ibero Americana, Netherlands Camerata, Luso Cello Ensemble, Aproarte, Esproarte, Particulares, Metropole Erasmus Or
