Richard Butlin

Service Designer in South West London

I live in Pas de Calais in France and in South West London. I run, not as often as I should, sometimes marathons. I read an eclectic mixture of crime fiction, economics, business, psychology, mathematics and comics. I listen to hip hop, pop, rock, indie and sometimes classical music.

I studied Mathematics at the University of Warwick and Computing at the Open University. I spent 4 years in the army before entering the IT industry.

I'm an IBMer, working in the IBM iX design practice, advising clients on how they can actively manage the experience they provide for their end customers across all their channels. I am excited by the opportunities for new technology such as AI to improve work and life, but I’m also alert to the risks and challenge, especially as they impact vulnerable groups and individuals.
