Richard Hallas

Huddersfield

Richard has degrees in Music (Lancaster), Computational Mathematics (OU) and the History of Science and Technology (Manchester) but has spent most of his working life writing, designing and editing things, from first-edition scores of music by Sir Arnold Bax to highly abstruse texts about algorithmics. He has designed typefaces in multiple languages (including Arabic, Hebrew and music fonts), designed CD booklets, edited computer magazines, written hundreds of articles, programmed websites (often music-related), designed corporate branding, the user-interface icons for an entire operating system (RISC OS 5) and loads of material promoting causes to do with classical music. Richard sings in several choirs, including the world-famous Huddersfield Choral Society. As might be inferred from the photograph, Richard appreciates the finer things in life.
