Richard Hensman

With 15 years experience developing software across many different technologies and many different industries, I have the skills and knowledge necessary to guide any technical team to success in their project.

I am a British Citizen, educated and raised in South Africa, living in Seattle Washington. I have been working formally in the industry since 1997, although I have been programming applications for commercial use for several years previously. Of this time, I have had project and time management responsibilities in every position I have held, and have had line management and mentoring responsibilities since 1999. I have led teams ranging in size from small 3-man teams, to a team consisting of 25-30 people in a loose team structure, and have also had experience in leading remote development team in India from a London office. I have also had the benefit of experience across a broad selection of industries, ranging from online gaming, to investment banking and financial services, and a lot of different approaches to New Media. This has taught me a wide variety of approaches to the creation and maintenance of systems.

I have been involved in hands-on web development throughout this time, and so have a solid understanding of the technologies and methods of creating web systems. Having been trained in process management using UML and RUP methodologies, as well as more agile systems of development, I have always been involved in the full life-cycle of products that I have been involved in. I am looking for a position where I can combine my management experience with my technical understanding, in order to lead a team producing cutting-edge applications. I am eager to shoulder the responsibility of leading a production process, and have the opportunity to allow my knowledge to make a positive difference to an organisation and their products and processes.
