Hello. My name is Richard Ryrko and I invented the personal stereo*

*Well naturally before the solicitors call, I'll explain that while I didn't actually get that thing to market and it was ultimately invented by the clever person that did invent it, I did have an independent thought process loosely based around the concept that finally became that marvellous thing!

Then:
After a few great years in the Neon sign and light making world, in the mid-90’s I retrained in digital media and eventually headed up RKO Digital Ltd for over a decade and a half which executed a wide-array of projects across most platforms for its discerning client base.

In the mid-00’s the family upped sticks and moved to Poland where, together with my then wife, we created a guest house in Krakow which landed in The Guardian travel section 5 best city breaks and kept us fully occupied for well over a year. That period also saw us create Vive, an interiors shop that was far ahead of its time selling fantastic products from great UK designers.

Now:
Back in the UK now for many years, my main focus is making desirable and useful things out of recycled materials, mostly wood but also glass, metal and recycled plastics. There’s treasure out there - I’m a big fan of wheelie-bins and skips! Making, and coming up with ideas for things to make is what I love but I also make and restore furniture, fitout campervan interiors and build shelving, platforms and office furniture when required. ‘Secret Storage’ is a speciality of mine.

As well as dusting off my old electric guitar after many years, and feeling the music in my soul, I've sent myself back to school to study my love of philosophy. Digital media has taken a back seat but I still build websites from time to time and keep an eye on developments in that area. I’m also a trained barista.
