Richard West

Fort Gratiot, MI

Hello. My name is Richard West and as you can see, I am a recent graduate from the University of Michigan who is currently seeking an opportunity to start my sports career.

My wife, Lindsey, and I live in Port Huron, MI and have been here our entire lives. We started dating in middle school and recently got married in June.

I am currently employed by UPS as a Pre-load Supervisor in Madison Heights, MI. I started at UPS as a seasonal pre-loader during Christmas time of 2012. I was then offered a supervisor opportunity in Port Huron in March and was then transfered down to a bigger center in Madison Heights. Although, UPS is a great company, I am still currently seeking my dream job in sports.

During my college career, I was able to accumulate some great working experience. During my sophmore year, I got involved with the University of Michigan Athletic Department, specifically the Marketing Dept., where I volunteered and eventually became an intern. I worked as a Sports Marketing Intern during my junior and senior years and loved every minute of it. Having the opportunity to work with such a prestigious Athletic Department was a huge privelage, not to mention getting to watch some of the football games from the field.

I also had the privelage of working for the Meijer Junior Players Tour and Adams Golf Junior Tour during the summer of 2011. These junior golf tournaments were ran and funded by the Game of Your Life Foundation (G.O.L.F) out of Coldwater, MI. I traveled the state of Michigan all summer organizing and executing golf tournaments in a different city each day. It was a great opportunity to further develop my event management skills.

During my final semester of senior year, I interned with the Detroit Pistons in Auburn Hills, MI. I worked in the Corporate Partnerships Dept. under several sales executives and marketing coordinators. It was a very worthwhile experience as I got to see on a daily basis, how a professional sports franchise goes about prospecting and securing sponsorships as well as getting ready for gameday activities, such as hosting sponsor parties.
