Richard Best
Hi there! In a nutshell, I'm a lawyer specialising in technology law and public law who also happens to love the web and build things for it.
I practise law
Having done the yards in private practice and in-house counsel roles in New Zealand and Europe, I’m now in Wellington, practising technology and public law for Government Technology Services, Department of Internal Affairs.
I build law sites
I’m hooked on using the web to make the practice of law more efficient and to improve life for clients and we lawyers who serve them. I do my bit by building law sites, from blogs to information hubs to contract generating applications.
I'm into open data
I’ve been fortunate to work in this field for a couple of years now through SSC and DIA, principally on NZGOAL but also bits and pieces for data.govt.nz. People want government data. And the world might just need it if we are to solve its problems.
