Richard Bolisay
Writer, Editor, and Film critic in Maynila, Pilipinas
Richard Bolisay is a graduate of the University of the Philippines Film Institute. In 2007, he started writing reviews for his website, Lilok Pelikula (Sculpting Cinema).
His essays on cinema, music, and popular culture have been published in The Philippines Free Press, The Philippine Star, Rogue, UNO, Vault, Kino Punch, Sinekultura, Paper Monster Press,and Fudge and on Criticine, Pinoytuner, Vandals on the Wall, High Chair, Lagarista, and Click the City. His English translation of Ricky Lee's screenplay for Himala appears in the book Sa Puso ng Himala.
He served as a guest critic at the 12th Cinemanila International Film Festival and jury member (for FIPRESCI) at the 38th Hong Kong International Film Festival, the 10th Cinema One Originals Film Festival, and the 3rd QCinema International Film Festival (for NETPAC). He helped out in several programs of Cinema Rehiyon (as catalog writer and editor) and Binisaya Film Festival (as guest panelist). Currently he is one of the selection committee members for Cinema One and QCinema, and teaches film at Colegio de San Juan de Letran.
