My name is Richard Bukenya and a Ugandan. I am a proud husband and a father of two children.I am a Borlaug Higher Education for Agriculture Research and Development (BHEARD) Fellow and a Ph.D. student in the Division of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. My professional mission is to protect the nutrition rights of the vulnerable communities and individuals through education and research. My research interest includes promoting the use of high-value crops to address micronutrient deficiencies, community nutrition evaluation, food fortification, emergency nutrition and food security, nutrition policy formulation, and body composition. My Ph.D. research topic is Development and validation of the General Nutrition Knowledge Questionnaire for adults in Uganda. My long term goal is to improve the delivery of nutrition in school age group.Good Nutrition Education and Extension Strategies can be used to improve the effectiveness of other interventions in place. The communication of basic nutrition messages needs standardization. Otherwise, in this era of improved access to information professionals find themselves guided by the communities, which is not bad because they are awakened. What is bad, is the misinterpretation of literature provided in media.
