Richard Diedrichs grew up in Los Angeles. He edited travel and health magazines in Seattle, worked as an editor at the schools of engineering and public health at the University of California. Berkeley, and taught Fourth and Fifth Grades and Kindergarten in public elementary schools around the East San Francisco Bay Area.

Richard has published two novels, a short story collection, a book on Buddhist practice for children, and short stories and essays in literary magazines, blogs, and websites.

Richard is a Zen priest. He teaches Buddhist dharma, formerly sensei at The Hawaii Island Meditation Ohana and Daifukuji Zen Temple in Kona.

He lives on the south central coast of California.
