A graduate of the University of Maryland Cum Laude, Dr. Richard Epstein graduated in the top-15 percent of his class at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He then completed an internship and than additional residency training in internal medicine at Emory University Medical System, followed by a residency in anesthesiology at the same institution. Dr. Richard Epstein also was a fellow in cardiac anesthesia at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Epstein joined Associated Anesthesia Services in 1981 and gained experience as a staff physician and senior cardiac anesthesiologist. From 1989 to 2014, he was a staff anesthesiologist with Physicians Anesthesia Associates PC, where he also focused on practice development and patient care, in addition to directing the outpatient anesthesia clinic. Most recently, Dr. Epstein served as a staff anesthesiologist with American Anesthesia in Towson, Maryland. Apart from his professional responsibilities, Dr. Epstein enjoys hobbies such as skiing, hiking, and swimming, and he supports charitable organizations that place retired racing greyhounds into loving homes and water conservation research and development.
