Richard Fichman
An expert in ophthalmologic issues and eye care, Richard Fichman presently serves as the Medical and Surgical Director of the Fichman Eye Center & Surgery Center in Manchester, Connecticut. The center treats patients for a variety of issues, including vision correction and cataracts. As one of the country’s leading ophthalmologists, Dr. Fichman has contributed to multiple medical journals. Also an inventor, he created the Quick Sight™ cataract removal method and published a book about the process that employs topical eye drops for anesthesia in the place of needles. Dr. Fichman has performed more than 12,000 surgeries and was one of 16 ophthalmologists who purchased and used the Summit Laser in the Dominican Republic before it received FDA approval in the United States. A Connecticut native, Richard Fichman earned his law degree at the Quinnipiac School of Law in Hamden before going on to complete his medical degree at Chicago Medical School. He went on to complete an internship at St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center and a residency at the University of Arizona Health Center in Tucson. He then completed a chief residency at the State University Kings County Hospital in New York. Dr. Richard Fichman’s professional appointments include his role as the Chief of Ophthalmology at the VA Medical Center. Before beginning that position, he served as a Clinical Instructor at Down State Medical University. He also acted as an Attending Physician at King’s County Medical Center. Fichman maintains professional memberships with relevant industry organizations such as the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American College of Eye Surgeons, and the Hartford County Medical Association.
