Richard Gorka

Richard Gorka, a longtime resident of Spokane, Washington, has had an extensive career with both the U.S. Postal Service and the U.S. Military. Gorka graduated from Kent State University in Ohio with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a minor in French. In 1984, Richard Gorka joined the U.S. Postal Service in Spokane, Washington, where he spent 24 years, with breaks for military service.

Richard Gorka served in Bosnia-Herzegovina with the U.S. Army as the Director of Strategic Plans. In this role, he oversaw the development of what was termed a road map for the phased withdrawal of U.S. and NATO forces from the region. He remained in the Balkan states for over eight months.

Between 2003 and 2007, Richard Gorka again left Spokane for military service. He served at the U.S. Army's Central Command on MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. As a Lieutenant Colonel, he played an essential role in operations on the base. He oversaw and coordinated the tasks assigned by higher command to 50 staff members and interacted with senior military officials from 64 nations.

Richard Gorka also served as Forward Executive Officer for the U.S. Central Command Plans, Policy and Strategy Directorate in Qatar. In this role, he wrote, researched and edited classified reports on the situation in the Middle East and served as a Personal Liaison to Senior Representatives from America's coalition partners in Iraq and Afghanistan. In Qatar, Richard Gorka briefed members of the U.S. Senate, the Ambassador to Qatar, and senior military officials.
After he retired from military and postal service, Richard Gorka continued to serve his country as a military contractor working with Lockheed Martin at MacDill AFB. In this role, he provided support for military intelligence operations in Iraq. He researched, tracked, and coordinated the movements of coalition forces. He also held responsibility for the evacuation and relocation plans of 1,300 people in the event of a major hurricane in the Tampa region.
