Everyone loves a bedtime story.

The books about children's favourite, Henry the Hedgegnome, are adored by children aged 2-6 and also loved by bigger kids up to about 96.

Richard Heddington first drew Henry the Hedgegnome in a school art class in the late 1970's, and the little spiky character enjoyed instant success appearing in the school magazine. However, when it came time for Richard to get a job, Henry the Hedgegnome retired to the attic where he spent nearly forty years in hibernation.

A lifetime later, when reading bedtime stories to his first granddaughter, Richard realised that the simple illustrated picture book form, like those of the Mr. Men, was an ideal format for Henry the Hedgegnome.

After a brief rummage in the attic to find the original illustrations and the formation of the Hedsite Press imprint to publish the books, Richard Heddington and Henry the Hedgegnome soon became a successful partnership in the world of children's books.

With several stories now published, there is a new generation of children enjoying the tales of Henry the Hedgegnome.

It might have taken forty years to become an overnight sensation, but the Henry the Hedgegnome story is history in the making.
