Richard Hollis, is a multi-nominated singer-songwriter, record producer and award winning recording artist.
Born in Texas, Richard first discovered his love for music while playing drums at the age of 5 in his dad's pentecostal church. He later fell in love with singing and songwriting and began performing in talent shows, clubs and area concerts providing opening support for headlining artist like Dave Hollister, H-Town, Mya and Dru Hill. While on that journey he was awarded the opportunities to audition for label executives, A&R's and music producers such as Jheryl Busby, Rushion McDonald, Jermaine Dupri, Dallas Austin, Jay Z and Damon Dash. In 1999 he and his group left Houston for New York seeking a record deal and on a cold hotel floor in Manhattan is where God began to deal with his heart.
After retuning to Houston Hollis started True Light Recordings and released his first indie project Brand New Start and received the 2008 Best New Artist Award from The Texas Gospel Announcers Guild. In 2011 his single "You Will Never Find" was voted Best New Indie Single and won a lead spot on the 2012 Oasis Inspirational Radio Sampler CD. Richard has been blessed to share the stage with r&b crooner Howard Hewitt, Stellar Award nominee Chester D.T. Baldwin and traditional gospel recording group Endurance. He has provided opening support for contemporary gospel recording artists Zacardi Cortez, Kim Burrell, Gary Mayes & Nu Era, James Fortune & FIYA and GMA’s Dove Award nominee Brian Courtney Wilson.
In 2014 Richard released his debut EP 'Brighter Days' which has been nominated for several awards from numerous independent award associations. His single 'It's A New Day' was voted '2016 Song of the Year' by the Independent Artist Christian Music Association. He has also been voted as a finalist for the prestigious People's Choice Award by the 2016 Gospel Image Awards. Most recently the EP has received multiple nominations from the Rhythm of Gospel Awards, IGARA Radio Alliance Awards, Voices of Gospel Awards, Blue MIC Awards and the Kingdom Image Awards for 2017. Hollis' Brighter Days EP and singles has totaled 1.1 million streams on major streaming platforms to date.
