Starting in 1988, Richard began buying and fixing up student rental properties primarily around Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah . He built the company to over 1,000 units while getting a JD/MBA, before selling out to invest in hotels and other commercial properties. He has been involved in a dozen different businesses as lead partner or owner and has specialized in bank owned, distressed or work-out situations. Mr. Knapp has always worked for himself and is now looking for the next deal.
