Richard Serpe

Richard Serpe is the Department Chair and Sociology Professor at Kent State. His teaching and research interests include Identity Theory, Sociology of the Self, Family, Emotions, Quantitative Methods, and Survey Research Methodology. His current research centers on three sets of data: Aspirations, Social Obligations and Psychological Distress. Serpe is an active participant in many social justice focused activities to help raise awareness about issues that exist today, such as race and racism.
