Richard Sweum

Living in the Greater Seattle Area, Richard Sweum takes advantage of the nearby environment for his leisure activities. He enjoys golf and snowboarding as well as wakeboarding. He also dedicates time to auctioneering and fund-raising.

Richard Sweum holds long-term ties to Everett, Washington, as he attended high school in the community and presently assists clients at a local bank. He graduated from Everett High School and relocated to Tacoma to attend Pacific Lutheran University. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences and a Master of Arts in Administration. Subsequently, Richard Sweum joined Young Life International as a Metro Director.

After 11 years, Richard Sweum changed careers and entered mortgage lending. He became a Loan Officer with First Horizon Home Loans, while leading Sweum Consulting. He then joined Homestead Mortgage as a Senior Mortgage Consultant and Branch Manager, where he excelled to a top producer distinction. He led a team and grew branch originations by assisting individuals seeking first mortgages and refinancing.

Today, Richard Sweum contributes as a Branch Manager and Senior Loan Officer at Sterling Bank in Everett. He provides guidance to staff members and to clients applying for home financing. In 2009, he was named one of the Best Mortgage Professionals.

Aside from working with clients face-to-face, Richard Sweum shares his thoughts about his industry and the American economy in his blog. He discussed bailouts of the auto companies and banks, excess real estate inventory, techniques for connecting with clients, and the Federal Reserve requiring banks to borrow money. He has also authored several entries on his perspective on the media's financial crisis coverage.
