Richard Gilbert
Web Developer, Designer, and Photographer in Seattle, Washington
For the past 17 years, Rich has been building web sites in nearly every way possible. In the early days of the web, he crafted them purely from scratch, learning HTML and CSS even as they were being defined and developed. He got his professional start as a web designer / developer at advertising agencies; much of his early work was Flash-based, in the days before CSS and JavaScript took hold. Over the first half of the last decade, Rich began building content management systems and online membership software that remains in use by dozens of organizations.
In the past six years, he has discovered the wonderful world of open source – PHP, Drupal, WordPress/Genesis have become his tools of choice. Rich's greatest joy is helping clients, be they recording artists, corporations, or nonprofit organizations, build their web presence, and helping them understand how to manage the tools he has set up for them to use. It gives him great satisfaction and pride to see a site take shape, and to know that he has contributed, at least to some degree, to making his clients' online lives a bit easier.
