I have worked for over a decade in IT, making the progression relatively early on from support to software development. The most recent turn in my career has taken me to exploring new software languages, while getting to dabble in spaces like accessibility and mobile web.
Near the end of 2008, I took a leap based on the advice of a friend and jumped into the exciting and rewarding career of firefighting as well (for more on those early years, head here: https://fdprobie.wordpress.com/). I have met some great people along the way, and hopefully have had a positive impact on both my peers and those we have been called to help.
In early 2010, a friend asked me to write a few fishing stories for a new website he was involved in. After a lifetime of chasing all things finned, this seemed easy enough - and a few short months later, a few of those stories got picked up, and I saw my name in print! While continuing to explore my love of the outdoors, I also contribute to several websites (providing mostly fishing-related content).
2014 was the "Year of the Run" for me. I ran over thirty 5Ks, a 5 mile race, a 7K, a 10K, Ragnar Great River, a local trail race series, two half marathons, and my first full marathon (the Twin Cities Marathon) - along with countless running and biking miles to get ready for it all. My young son also completed his first race, getting his own "numbers" and a medal!
