After earning his medical degree from the University of Iowa and a post doctoral degree in Pharmacology from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine, Ric Jensen, MD, performed his internship and residency at the University of Texas Health Science Centers in Houston/Galveston. Through a spinal surgery fellowship with the University of Texas Health System, Dr. Jensen furthered his training in neurosurgery, specifically in complex spinal surgery and spine fusion. He also completed a fellowship in neurosurgical oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

A board-certified neurosurgeon, Ric Jensen, MD, possesses extensive experience in spinal biomechanics. He provides treatment for patients with disorders of the spine and nerve-related pain syndromes, such as spinal stenosis, lumbar disc herniations, and other degenerative disc diseases that result in pain of the back and neck. Dr. Jensen's extensive understanding of the mechanical function of spinal components allows him to create treatment plans that are optimized for each patient's pathology In addition, Dr. Jensen strives to treat disorders with minimal disruption to the spine and reduce the need for more invasive surgery. Along with his work in spine and nerve-related disorders, he also treats patients with tumors of the brain and spine. Outside his practice as a neurosurgeon, Dr. Jensen commits himself to further broadening his understanding of new neurological and biomechanical techniques and applications.
