Listen to my music

A musician / entertainer currently living in Southern California. Interests range from arranging music to performing on guitar and bass guitar. Musical styles are Rock, Country, R n B, Blues, and Modern Jazz.

Initially, it was the heavy side of rock n’ roll that prompted Rick’s journey into music. At age 14, he was so captivated by Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Grand Funk Railroad, Earth, Wind, & Fire, etc., that he soaked up all the rock and hard hitting R & B funk he could find. Playing bass at first, chord rhythms and power chords became an appeal. Self taught, he spent every waking hour learning with a Mel Bay guitar instruction book. By age 16, Rick was in a band called The Family Jewels. As a 14 piece show band, "The Jewels" were popular on the West Coast. Quite a few established artists had the young band open for them or as a backing band on major shows.

Because of Rick's ability to perform any style of music authentically, many artists had him perform on their recordings. Some had Rick perform guitar, bass, or both in a non disclosure session to re-record or totally replace the original guitarist or bassist. If schedules permitted, Rick would also perform with the artist as a sub during a tour. There is a chance you have heard Rick's playing on recordings in the 80s, and 90s for artists from RCA, A&M, Solar, Capitol, Universal, and Sony.

Rick has played a few Blues, Rock, Funk / R&B and Country / Bluegrass music festivals. In addition, he has played in tributes to Pink Floyd, Prince, Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, EWF, Santana, and Chic.

Lately, Rick is playing live in local settings, either on guitar or bass (he loves playing either one), enjoying live intimate shows.

The track above is a song recorded long ago with a 4 track, synth module as the band, and Rick on guitar after waking up at 4am.
