A longstanding presence in the San Antonio community, Bishop Rick Hawkins guided the Family Praise Center, which he founded in the early 1990s as a multicultural ministry. From humble beginnings operating out of a store-front building in an underserved neighborhood, Bishop Rick Hawkins grew the San Antonio church into a 5,000-person congregation that met at the former site of the Pear Apple County Fair.

In 2008, Bishop Hawkins oversaw the church’s transformation into Place for Life - a Place to Experience Life, Growth and God Together. As before, an emphasis was placed on bringing a message of compassion, hope, relief, and forgiveness to those in spiritual need.

Among Bishop Hawkins’ annual undertakings was the Back to School Bash, which distributed backpacks with essential supplies to students across the local community. He also set in place homeless outreach programs and an AIDS counseling center in South Africa, while working to establish a church in Togo, Africa. Rick Hawkins is currently focused on providing a positive, family-first message to Oklahoma City Metro area worshipers through Quest Church.
