A native of San Antonio, Rick attended Southside High School located in the southern sector of the city. He received his Associate of Arts degree with a concentration in Liberal Arts from San Antonio College. In 2014, he graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology from The University of Texas at San Antonio. He is currently pursuing a graduate degree from The University of the Incarnate Word.

After a two year run with KABB-TV in San Antonio, he joined KENS5-TV in June 2002 and served as the Digital Sales Coordinator for MySanAntonio.com / San Antonio Express-News and Kens5.com.

He enjoys family time with his partner of 16 years (Mike), along with his many siblings and relatives.
