One thing many people don’t know about me is that my grandparents on my mom’s side live on a beautiful farm in Monroe, GA. Since I can remember, I have visited the farm to see my grandparents on all sorts of holidays and various family gatherings. The farm is an amazing getaway and also home to the cutest dogs on the planet. There have been 7 total in my lifetime, and they never fail to brighten my day when they greet my family and I at the doorsteps of our car, rolling around and jumping in excitement (the dog pictured is the oldest and biggest redmond and I love him). Whenever I return to the farm, everything feels so nostalgic and meaningful as past memories flood in as I move around the grounds. Most recently when I went back to the farm for Christmas, My Brother and I shot our Boompa’s (Our name for grandpa) BB gun at targets, which I had done when I was much younger, staying the night by myself hanging out with my Boompa and Booma, which was a core memory of my childhood. The farm has a way of slowing time, allowing you to look up and immerse yourself in nature, the people around you, and of course the dogs. Honestly, besides seeing and hanging out with my grandparents, the dogs are always my favorite part about visiting. They make you feel so loved and appreciated by their constant energy and presence, and whenever I’m leaving I always want to take one home with me because they just the best. The farm is a big part of me, and I always love spending time there with family and the dogs, escaping from my busy life.
